Podgorica Club

Founded in Podgorica at the Assembly of Founders, which was held on the 1st of February, 2019, based on the Article 11 of the Law on Non-Governmental Organizations (Official Gazette of Montenegro, number 31/11 and 37/17).

The Steering Committee was elected at the Assembly of Founders, and the members are as follow:/p>

  • Zlatko Lagumdžija, the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2001-2002,
  • Branko Crvenkovski, the President of North Macedonia, 2004-2009,
  • Danilo Türk, the President of Slovenia, 2007-2012,
  • Mirko Cvetković, the Prime Minister of Serbia, 2008-2012,
  • Jadranka Kosor, the Prime Minister of Croatia, 2009-2011,
  • Filip Vujanović, the President of Montenegro, 2003-2018. *

At the Founding Assembly, the Managing Board was elected, composed of the following members:

  • Alfred Moisiu, the President of Albania 2002-2007
  • Zlatko Lagumdžija, the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina 2001-2002
  • Fatmir Sejdiu, the President of Kosovo 2006-2010
  • Branko Crvenkovski, the President of North Macedonia 2004-2009
  • Danilo Türk, the President of Slovenia 2007-2012,
  • Mirko Cvetković, the Prime Minister of Serbia 2008-2012
  • Jadranka Kosor, the Prime Minister of Croatia 2009-2011,
  • Filip Vujanović, the President of Montenegro 2003-2018.

Filip Vujanović, the President of Montenegro, 2003-2018, was elected as the President of the Steering Committee, and in accordance with the Articles of Association (Statute), as the President of the Podgorica Club, as well.

Ruždija Tuzović, the former Advisor to Filip Vujanović, the President of Montenegro, was appointed as the Secretary General of the Club.

The following persons were elected as the members of the Podgorica Club:

  • Alfred Moisiu, the President of Albania, 2002-2007,
  • Fatmir Sejdiu, the President of Kosovo, 2006-2010,
  • Hari Kostov, the former Prime Minister of Macedonia, 2004,
  • Milan Kučan, the President of Slovenia, 1991-2002,
  • Nataša Mićić, the President of Serbia, 2002-2004,
  • Stjepan Mesić, the President of Croatia, 2000-2010,
  • Igor Lukšić, the Prime Minister of Montenegro, 2010-2012.

Based on the decision of the Board of the Podgorica Club, adopted on March 25, 2019, members of the Podgorica Club are elected:

  • Rexep Maidani, former President of Albania 1997-2002,
  • Atifete Jahjaga, former President of Kosovo 2011-2016.

Based on the decision of the Board of the Podgorica Club, adopted on February 12, 2019, Zoran Jovanov, a longtime collaborator of the former President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Branko Crvenkovski is elected as Deputy Secretary General of the Podgorica Club.

The following documents were adopted at the Assembly of Founders: the Decision on Incorporation, the Articles of Association (Statute), the Founding Act, the Main Directions of Acting and the Concept “New Narrative for the Western Balkans – Vision 2030.”

It was decided that the Concept “New Narrative for the Western Balkans – Vision 2030” would be the title of the extended high-level working meetings within the Podgorica Club, to which a concrete thematic mark would be added.

The Podgorica Club was entered in the register of the Ministry of Public Administration on the 1st of February 2019 by means of the decision.

FOUNDING ACT OF THE PODGORICA Club

The Podgorica Club (hereinafter referred to as: The Club) was founded at the Assembly of Founders of the Podgorica Club, which was held in Podgorica on the 1st of February 2019.

The members of the Club may be the former Presidents of the states and governments of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Slovenia, and Serbia. (The states are listed in an alphabetical order).

The Club was founded as a voluntary and non-profit organization for the purpose of the realization of the general interests and objectives.

The Club was founded observing the assessment of the members of the Club about the need to establish a Club.

The Club shall be devoted to the prosperity, good relations and affirmation of the European values in the member states of the Club, as well as the region and the South-East Europe that it belongs to.

The Club shall, along with the full respect for the values and particularities of the member states of the Club, contribute strongly to the development of good neighboring relations, regional cooperation and affirmation of the region in the international community.

The Club shall be devoted to the protection of human and minority rights, and to the affirmation of the rule of law in accordance with the highest European and international standards.

The Club shall, in the realization of the general interests and objectives for which it was founded, act in an organized manner, using the experiences of the members of the Club in performing the previous governmental obligations.

The Club shall be devoted to the full cooperation with the academic communities, Chambers of Commerce and associations, which are dedicated to the interests and objectives for whose realization the Club operates.

The Club expects the cooperation, support and assistance from all in the international community, who value the stability, prosperity and good relations among the member states of the Club, as well as the development and affirmation of the region and South-Eastern Europe.

The Club shall operate in a completely public manner, which shall be realized in accordance with the Articles of Association (Statute) of the Club.

The Club shall elect its members in accordance with the Articles of Association (Statute) of the Club and they shall represent, in normative terms, the Assembly of the Club and the Steering Committee shall be the management body of the Club.

The Club shall be represented by the President of the Club and the Secretary General of the Club, regarding the duties defined by the Articles of Association (Statute) of the Club and its Steering Committee.

The Club shall be founded for an indefinite period of time.

The Club shall have the status of a legal entity, which shall be received through the registration before the competent state authority in Montenegro.

In accordance with the need for the use of a gender-sensitive language, the expressions which refer to the male gender in this Act, shall imply the same expressions in the female gender.

On February 20, 2019, the Board of the Podgorica Club decided to establish a subsidiary of the Podgorica Club in the Republic of Northern Macedonia. The subsidiary Podgorica Podgorica Club is registered with a decision by the Macedonian state authorities on April 22, 2019 and is managed by the Deputy General Secretary of the Podgorica Club Zoran Jovanov.
